Models Dead after Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong

My current event is about how Miss Argentina died after she was getting a surgery for her buttocks last Wednesday.  Solonge Magnano, 37, was rushed to a hospital after having her surgery in a clinic not too far away. Nigel Mercer, president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, last month described cosmetic surgery as an “unregulated mess” in the journal Clinical Risk. What Mercer means is that the whole industry of plastic surgery is a mess and needs to be more organized and needs to medically enhanced.  Also he says that more and more plastic surgeries are being done in clinics when in reality, then need to be done in a suitable environment for surgeries.  Magnano is reported to have died from a pulmonary embolism, which is a blockage of blood supply to the lungs. A normal buttocks procedure is not harmful if it is implanted.  But studies say that if Magnano got liquid silicon injected into her, that is “highly unpleasant” and is banned in most countries. “No cosmetic surgery is totally risk free,” Mercer told CNN. “Even having botox and fillers is not risk free. There’s a chance of infection, bruising or bleeding with any procedure.”

Jim the french fry

November 5, 2009 by meganmacaluso

While I was sleeping I woke up.  I woke up from a loud thump in my closet.  I told my mom to come and check it out.  When she came inside she looked in the closet and there was nothing there. When she left I heard the thump a few more times.  I slowly went to the closet and as i put my hand on the doorknob “BAM!” millions of little french fries jumped at me.   They were shouting, “Come in here come in here!” So I went in.  As I’m walking through my closet a large french fry names Jim appeared.  He said, “Hi I’m Jim, and welcome to Sweets and Stuff land!”  The place was amazing.  There were sweets everywhere, candies all over the place. “Come on in and look around, anything is edible. Except the fries, we keep this place running. Enjoy!” Jim said. All of the fries had name tags so I can make new friends easily and they were really nice.  In the middle of the land was a giant fountain.  The fountain was squirting millions of M&M’s out of it.  It was also a wishing well.If you through a Skittle in the fountain your wish came true.  I through one in and wished that every night I could stay in Sweets and stuff land.  I didn’t think my wish would actually come true.  Every night following that night I went to Sweets and Stuff land.  I made tons of new friends, all being giant french fries.

How to add a calendar to your blog.

October 8, 2009 by meganmacaluso

How to make a calendar appear in the sidebar of your WordPress blog.

Step One -  Log into your wordpress account.

Step Two – Located in the upper left hand corner of your screen, is a gray tool bar. Click the link that states “My Dashboard”.

Step Three – Scroll down. On the left hand side of the screen, you’ll find several tabs. Locate the tab named “Appearance,” and click.

Step Four – Open the Appearance tab and six links are listed. Click the second link from the top called “Widgets”.

Step Five – Now there should be thirty two widgets in an appropriately organized fashion. Read among the following widgets and chose one of your liking.

Step Six – To make that widget appear on your blog; Click on the gray tab you chose and drag it to the right hand side of the screen into the dark gray box named “Sidebar”.

Step Seven – After you’ve dragged your calendar to the sidebar, a blank box will appear under the word “Title”. This box is for you to name your calendar. The name will show up on your blog.

Step Eight – Click the blue button named “Save” in the bottom right hand corner of the dark gray box to save the calendar onto your blog.

Step Nine – Congratulations! To view this new fancy addition to your blog: Find the gray toolbar on top of the page. Underneath this toolbar should be another toolbar with your blog name as a link. Click either your name or the link “Visit Site” to view your blog and new widget.

Step Ten – To add any other widget of your choosing just repeat steps one through eight.

10 Things That Make Me Laugh

October 5, 2009 by meganmacaluso

1. Michael Macaluso -Michael is my older brother and he makes me laugh all the time.  When we are together we always quote funny movies and say funny things and no matter what mood I’m in, he always knows how to make me laugh.  He’s seen me at my worst and while I’m at my worst he finds the littlest things to make me laugh, and in the end he always does.

2.My family- I personally don’t think you can handle dinner at my dinner table. The conversations we have are always the funniest. I always end up spitting my drink out or choking from laughing so hard. My brother, mom, dad and sister combined are probably the funniest group of people I have ever met.

3. My best friends- I have 3 best friends Christine, Amanda, and Megan McCann.  If I could tell you all the times they’ve made me laugh there wouldn’t be enough room on this page. The best times are when we’re down the shore, especially when the power goes out.  When people go out, they like to go on adventures, but me and my best friends can sit in a room for hours and do nothing but laugh.

4. Melissa Macaluso- Melissa is my twin and occasionally we get in these creepy moods where we laugh at everything.  No one knows what we’re laughing at but we do.  Late at night before we go to bed we sit in the dark and talk and we always get yelled at by my parents because we are being too loud.  We have the weirdest inside jokes you will ever hear.

5. Step Brothers- Step Brothers is one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen.  Me, Melissa and Michael quote the lines like it’s our job.  They have the funniest lines in the world.  No matter what kind of day it is, Step Brother’s always makes me laugh.

6. Connor Cuccinelli - I see Connor every morning and every day at lunch, and no matter what he is doing, he always, always makes me laugh.  He can even make me laugh via text.

7. Entourage- The best show known to man, I laugh constantly while watching it. It is pure genius.

8. Mark and Matt- As much as they annoy me some times, they really make me laugh.  There is nothing like sitting down at the Christmas Eve dinner table with just the 7 of us and laughing throughout the whole night because two people are making the funniest comments. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

9. Dan Powers- He is point blank the best person alive.

10. Mom and Dad- Yes I have mentioned them prior to this, but I though they should get their own.  When I was little I always looked forward to my mom and dad having funny grownup conversations with me when I got older. Now that we’re older, whatever they talk about with my 3 older brothers they can always talk about to me.  I love it because some of the things that we talk about are so funny.

I’m adding an 11 because I just can’t leave out my aunt Doris and my uncle Billy- They are the G’st funniest people I have ever met, and they will always be my favorite.

Penicillin becoming obsolete

October 1, 2009 by meganmacaluso

The article I chose to read about is about how penicillin is becoming obsolete.  This means that the body is becoming immune to the medicine.  If this happens we will go though a major health crisis. Antibiotic such as penicillin have been the key to declining infections over the past 60 years. Recent studies show that the bacteria are becoming increasingly resistant to the drugs. This means that these drugs will become non existent. Penicillin has become obsolete in many European countries, reasons being that there are doctors over prescribing the drug and there are super bugs spreading.  If we do not use money to have more medical research for a new drug, we will hit a major health crisis.

Correct Posture

September 29, 2009 by meganmacaluso

Can you do these stretches sitting down or standing?

You can do these stretches sitting and standing.

What posture should you always begin at?

Neutral position is where you should start.

Why is breathing helpful?

Breathing is helpful because as you do stretches you can get light headed if you don’t take big breathes.  If you keep breathing you will stay steady and not get light headed.  If you don’t  breath you can get strains.

Choose 3 stretches and why?

Hand fans: They are my favorite because they help the blood flow through your fingers so when you type you don’t cramp.

Wrist bends:  I like these because my wrists cramp a lot while I type.  These will help me so they don’t cramp so I could type for a longer period of time.

Sky reach:  I like the sky reach because instead of taking time stretching each different body part, you can stretch it all at the same time.

Bad Posture

September 23, 2009 by meganmacaluso

I Googled bad posture and I found the website, http://www.buzzle.com/articles/bad-posture.html.  On this website there are 5 points that explain the cons of bad posture. They are;

1.Make sure you have your neck in a good position. If your neck is causing you to have to adjust because you are in pain, then readjust to your comfort.

2. Head slightly forward but not too forward. If you’re straining the back muscles then you are going too far.

3. Shoulder posture should be perfect.  Do not hunch them over. Once again if you feel strain you have to adjust so you feel perfectly fine.

4. Monitor your hip position.  If you want to prevent lower back pain then make sure your hips are aligned.

5.  Bad posture starts at your feet.  Make sure your feel are flat on the ground. Not too far out and not to much in.

CNN current event.

September 17, 2009 by meganmacaluso

My current event is about a 107 year old woman Wok Kundor, who is currently living in Malaysia searching for a new husband.  This article is taken place Malaysia.  The woman has had 22 husbands, and is looking for her 23rd.  She has a current husband who is almost 70 years younger than her.  He left her town to go to a drug rehab center.  She fears that he will not come back and he will find himself a beautiful more younger wife.  Wok states “If my husband does not come back , I do have my eyes on a 50 year old man, but I do not want it to come to that.”  Wok and her husband hail from the same village and that is where they had met.  Her husband, Mohammed Boor Che Musa said that it was “God’s will” that they met. Musa says “I am very much in love with my wife and I cannot dream of living life with someone else.”  Wok wants to go to the city where his rehab is to visit him because she doesn’t believe that he said I love you.  She wants to hear it personally from him.

In my opinion I feel that this article is a little ridiculous.  I only feel this way because in America being with someone more than 12 years older than you is frowned upon.  In the article Musa says that he is fully in love with his 107 year old wife.  He is 37, there is about a 50 year age difference, but if they’re in love then they’re in love.  I like this article because it’s something you don’t hear everyday. It’s interesting and it’s interesting to know that even if you are 107 years old you can still find love.

My favorite childhood memory

September 16, 2009 by meganmacaluso

My favorite childhood memory was when I would go to the Papermill Play House.  When I was little my grandma would take my sister and I to see plays all the time.  She had no special reason to take us there, and that is why I enjoyed it so much.  She didn’t need a special reason to take us, she just wanted to.  My two favorite plays were Christmas Carol, and Grease.  I liked them a lot because they were funny.  Though Christmas Carol was kind of scary at some parts, Scrooge was very funny.  Grease was my all time number one favorite.  I love Grease the movie to begin with, and going to see it live made it ten times more fun for me.  I love to watch the actors and actresses sing and dance.  It’s fun to know that even if you don’t make it onto Broadway, you can still fulfill your dream of singing, dancing, and acting.  As I get older I realize how much my grandma cared for me.  She didn’t just take us there for our birthdays or for Christmas. She just took us there because she loves us.  That is why Papermill Play House is my favorite childhood memory.
